On the morning of January 29, 2026, at Hall C, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) held a scientific seminar titled “Applying AI to Quality Control in the Circular Economy,” attracting numerous scientists, business experts, and over 300 students from various faculties and institutes across the university. The seminar served as an important academic and practical forum, helping to clarify the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in quality control, a crucial link in the development of the circular economy—an economic model that is becoming an inevitable global trend.

In his opening remarks at the seminar, Dr. Thai Doan Thanh, Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, emphasized that in the context of rapid digital transformation, the application of AI in quality control not only helps improve accuracy, transparency, and management efficiency, but also opens up opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to enhance their competitiveness and move toward sustainable development.

Dr. Thai Doan Thanh, Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, delivered the opening remarks at the seminar.

At the workshop, delegates listened to a number of in-depth presentations that closely connected scientific research with the practical needs of businesses.

Kicking off the program, Dr. Tran Viet Hung, Lecturer at the Faculty of Information Technology, presented the topic “Applying AI to Optimize Quality Control Processes in the Circular Economy,” clarifying how AI and machine learning can support automation, risk prediction, and improve the reliability of quality control systems.

This was followed by a presentation by Associate Professor Dr. Ngo Thanh An, Head of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, on “Applying Multivariate Data Analysis to Raman Spectroscopy of Infant Formula Products.” The report introduced an interdisciplinary approach combining chemistry and data science, opening up possibilities for fast and accurate quality testing in the food sector.

From the perspective of business and industrial production, Mr. Pham Van Duoc and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tinh, representatives of NK Engineering Co., Ltd., shared their presentation on “The Application of Measurement and Control Equipment in Industrial Production Process Control,” helping participants better understand the role of measurement and control systems as the “senses” of AI in modern factories. Panel discussion on “Quality Control in the Circular Economy,” featuring speakers from businesses, research institutes, and universities.

The highlight of the program was the panel discussion “Quality Control in the Circular Economy,” featuring speakers from businesses, research institutes, and universities. Many timely issues were discussed openly, including the reliability of AI in quality control, its ability to replace or support manual inspection, and the prerequisites for Vietnamese businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to apply AI effectively.

The workshop concluded in an atmosphere of open, positive, and forward-looking exchange, promising to serve as a foundation for broader research, cooperation, and application of AI in quality control and circular economy development at HUIT in the coming period.

The workshop not only offered academic value but also helped strengthen connections among the university, scientists, and businesses, in line with the University’s practice-oriented training approach. Through the program, HUIT students had the opportunity to explore emerging technology trends, broaden their interdisciplinary thinking, and gain a clearer sense of their career paths in the era of the digital economy and sustainable development.
